Mr. Popper’s Penguins is the latest penguin movie soon to open in theaters. This penguin comedy stars Jim Carrey and a pile of adorable penguins. The movie is based on a book that has long been required reading in many schools. The storyline is a business man happens to “inherit” a small herd of penguins and all manner of chaos follows From the previews, Mr. Popper’s Penguins promises to be entertaining and full of laughs.

The London Zoo has revamped it’s penguin exhibit into a fabulous new penguin beach. The new exhibit is call Penguin Pool and is is now home to two species of penguins, Blackfooted Penguins (aka African Penguins) and Rockhopper Penguins. These penguins moved to the new Penguin Pool from their previous home at the Lubetkin Pool. The London Zoo Penguin Pool features plenty of space for the penguins to swim and play as well as private areas for the penguins to nest and rest.

The pool looks fabulous to me. there is even an underwater viewing area where visitors can watch the penguins as they swim under water. I’d love to see photos you’ve taken of this fantastic new penguin exhibit in London!

Whether or not Halloween is near, there is always a need for a penguin costume when you love penguins! There are a number of stores both online and off that carry penguin costumes, but you’re more likely to find the size you need in the style you want during the Halloween shopping season.

Prices range from just under $15 to over $600 depending on if you are looking for a casual recreation costume or a professional penguin mascot outfit. You can find size ranging from newborn to adult and everything in between, and currently there is a great selection of styles to choose from. Most of the available penguin costumes are one-piece jumpsuit style outfits. Some have a hat or head style hood while a few have a full head piece.

Things to consider when buying a penguin costume:

What type of penguin costume are you looking for? There are cute penguins, cartoon style penguins, penguin costumes with hats and bow ties and this year there are even costumes featuring each of the Penguins of Madagascar.

Last month, after 66 days of incubation, an Emperor penguin was born in China. This is no ordinary penguin. This penguin was artificially inseminated and spent 5 days in an artificial incubator when the adult penguins abandoned the egg.

According to China’s National Bureau of Oceanography, the penguin is in ‘good health’.
Against the odds, this baby penguin is in good health and living with it’s mother at China’s Laohutan Ocean Park in the north-east city of Dalian.

Exciting news for people who love penguins! Another great penguin movie is in the works. Originally published in 1938, Mr. Popper’s Penguins is a popular children’s book about a poor painter who receives a penguin he names Captain Cook. As the story goes on Mr. Popper’s house becomes full of penguins which teaches him some important life lessons. The book is a regular read in classrooms 3rd – 5th grade, inspiring penguin themed lesson plans around the country.

Mr. Popper dreams about leaving his boring life and going on an adventure to the Antarctic. When the legendary Admiral Drake sends him a live penguin in response to his letter, he is thrilled. Very soon, he also receives a female companion for his penguin and they have 10 children. But Mr. Popper has enough trouble supporting his human family, and so he has the idea to take his penguins to the stage. Soon, Mr. Popper is up to his ears in adventure as he tries to manage 12 performing penguins and the trouble they inevitably get into. Mr. Popper”s Penguins remains a classic, read and remembered by generations of loyal fans. Now, 70 years after its publication, it will be given a fresh new voice as an audiobook to attract a new generation of listeners.

Mr. Popper’s Penguins is finally going to  hit the big screen with an undated storyline starring Jim Carrey.

According to MTV.com:

The film adaptation is said to be an upscale spin on the book, with Carrey in the role of the titular Mr. Popper, now a high-powered businessman who suddenly inherits six penguins. As Popper becomes increasingly attached to his feathered friends, his life unravels and, you guessed it, wackiness ensues. According to the script synopsis, Popper’s swanky apartment turns into a winter wonderland, and he almost lands in jail.

It’s said the movie will begin production with Fox this October in New York. No word yet when the movie will open.
